My name is George “Eddie” Lorton and I am asking for a few minutes of your time with this video to allow me to introduce myself to you more personally.

I fight for citizens, not for special interest groups or friends. I’d love for my reputation to earn your vote for Reno Mayor. Thank you for watching. If this video speaks to you, please forward it along to your friends.

Thank you, Reno. It is a pleasure to call this community my home for my 57+ years.

These Are My Beliefs

Pay Down Our $1 BILLION Debt

  • The city owns hundreds of millions in surplus
property we can sell – instead of giving it away.
  • Proceeds from surplus property can pay down our
city debt and fund needed new police and fire stations,
while keeping senior fees and taxes low
  • The city is spending millions on the homeless shelter
when it’s the county’s responsibility to place & pay for
it. We must work with the county but its their fiscal
    obligation, not ours.

Fiscal responsibility

  • Open closed fire stations and pools – instead of
    frivolously renting whale art pieces
  • Move ice rink back to the river where it earns
$110,000 a year and people want it there.
  • Stop the $1 million a year subsidy to the ballpark.
  • Make sound business decisions.
  • End giveaways to friends
  • The city wasted $2.5 million on the ADP payroll
system after being advised for two years that the
system would not work for them
  • Affordable housing plan.
  • Wasting $7 million on the RGJ Building
for the new police station instead of using
city-owned land and saving the $7 million.

Look After Our Citizens

  • Made the ballpark pay $1.8 million in back taxes.
  • Sponsored turning the arch lights blue once a year
since 2012 to honor fallen police officers.
  • When the previous City Council tried to run for
another 12 years against term limits, I took them to the
Nevada Supreme Court and won – honoring what 80
percent of the people had voted for!

End Dysfunction at City Hall

  • End sexual harassment and lawsuits at City Hall.
  • End favors to political friends.
  • Stop appointing unqualified people to important
    positions.
